The Day I Let Go

a letter I never got to send

you left

quietly.

no last laugh,

no whispered goodbye—

just a silence

that screamed

into the corners

of my life.

one moment,

you were here.

the next,

a phone call shattered

the world we shared.

I wanted to say—

I'm sorry.

I forgive you.

I love you.

but the words

sat, unspoken,

on the other side

of forever.

grief lingers

in strange places:

the scent of your sweater,

a song you once hummed,

the hush of sunday mornings

that still forget

you’re gone.

time

doesn't wait

for closure.

it flows forward,

even when I can't.

today,

I let go—

not because

I’ve forgotten,

but because

carrying you

in pain

is too heavy.

I will carry you

in peace

instead.
