The Day After Yesterday
In memory's quiet echoes

Yesterday, the sun shone brightly from a clear sky
Today, it's gray and damp and cool
Yesterday, I walked with friends along the road
Today, I sit alone and back
-*-+-*-+-*-+-*-+-*-+
Yesterday, I raised my voice in song
Today, it’s sobbing, hiccuping sorrow
Yesterday, I heard my friends’ voices
Today, I’m the only noise
-*-+-*-+-*-+-*-+-*-+
Yesterday, I got hugs and embraces
Today, my hand rests on my shoulder alone
Yesterday, we ate and drank in your memory
Today, I feel memories, not hunger
-*-+-*-+-*-+-*-+-*-+
Yesterday, the guests left my house
Today, it’s empty and heavy here
Yesterday, I went to rest alone
Today, it will be the same
Tomorrow will be yet another day.
-*-+-*-+-*-+-*-+-*-+
