a poem

the four year funeral began in autumn
under a punishing sun
a scorching, blazing end to our fun
a fire to expire all that held on
housing demons who whispered
hold faith, youโre not done
.
the four year funeral ended this year
under thick rain and cloud
beneath a heavy, salt crusted shroud
soaked in weighted grief
that I finally exchanged
for the sweet river of relief
.
Naked
I stepped into iced waters
with the knowing I am neither your lover nor daughter
your funeral has been my darkest mourning
yet you were just one of many
to abandon without warning
.
the four year funeral became my rebirth
where from your ashes
I foraged my self worth
finally I allowed all hope to die
and with no more tears
I said my final goodbye

Every line of this is so beautiful Kayleigh! You're so talented and I'm so glad this is uplifting. Hope that means you're doing well.
Oooo, this is like a sister poem to your previous one and this was extremely powerful! I freaking loved it!
