The Crown Without a Head

Spoken Word

Who am I?

Am I like those dull birds just flapping around?

Who am I?

Eager like a rabbit with a carrot in its mouth?

Who am I?

Silvered spooned without a crown?

Who am I?

Smiles yet nothing compares to the miles that swoon in midair.

Who am I?

Backwards or forwards, no man can't see, that with me there is no dream.

Who am I?

Potent,

How can I?

Leverage,

How could you?

Revenge,

How could I?

Lust,

How could you?

White roses in dozens, and made love to nothing.

How could I?

Tomb stones, and slash marks, you would think I was in the dark,

How could you?

Crooked smile for a while but couldn’t be down to,

How could I?

Love anything but you.

Thanks for sharing this! I think it captures the abstract struggle of asking who we are quite well… After all, who knows themselves in all clarity?

This is some deep and rather cryptic stuff. It makes me wonder what inspired these thoughts. Are they about personal identity struggles? I can relate to grappling with questions about who we are. What do you think the overall theme here is?
