The Creature

A poem by a 9 year old Sam

By ᔕᗩᗰ ᕼᗩᖇTYPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Here's a poem I wrote when I was 9 years old. I remember being very self satisfied, proud even. I thought it was definitely better than my first one, although it still had my mother worried. LOL!

Beyond the mist and lurking shadows

you hear the wind blow through the meadows

the old owl hoots once or twice

you hear the scatter of the mice

Then all at once a creature appears

with no happiness or cheer

just fear and doom

and wishes to never return to the tomb.

All the villagers let loose a cry

viewing such a monster in the sky

but all is not lost

says the witch doctor passing by.

For if the sun rises full and clear

the loathsome creature shall disappear.

The scared villagers watch the sky

no sign of hope in their eyes

while hours and hours pass by.

Finally the deed is done

bursting through the clouds

soon comes the sun

And yes, that sun is full and clear

and the lurking creature disappears.

the poem is beautiful and its significance is early talent. Whoever reads it will see that its writer is more mature than 9 years. very good

  • Very good, especially when considering your age when you wrote it! Great work.
