The Creation of the World

In the Beginning

In the beginning, void and still,

No sound was heard, no light to fill,

A silent dark, vast and wide,

Yet in the void, God did reside.

He spoke a word, simple and pure,

A word that made the heavens sure,

"Let there be light," His voice did say,

And from the darkness burst forth day.

The light shone, so bright so true,

Split the sky with hues of blue,

The world was born from God's command,

Shaped and molded by his hand.

From nothingness, the stars were cast,

Sun and moon, the night to last,

Oceans deep and mountains tall,

Sprang to life at His beck and call.

In every creature, great and small,

His breath of life, the spark of all,

The earth was formed, the heavens unfurled,

In God's own time, the world was twirled.

Thus in the silence, God began,

The master plan for beast and man,

In the beginning, His voice was heard,

And life arose at his mighty word.
