There is a cost for everything; hear me out,

It's not necessarily what you are thinking about,

It's not the notes or coins you toss,

But no matter what you do, you're about to take a loss,

When you give someone a shoulder or ease a broken heart,

You think it's free to give. but there is a price you have to count,

The cost you pay for love is a piece of your own soul,

The cost you pay for silence is losing your control,

They say love is selfless; you don't have to pay a dime,

But, oh, they don't tell you that being an emotional wreck is your price,

So the next someone says they don't get anything in return,

Tell them, 'Sure there is, and you will someday learn.'

This is so rhythmic and profound. Reads like it was just born instead of meticulously created. Well done.
