The Coral's Lament

Saving Ocean's Colorful Jewels

By Kamusiime ComradePublished 3 years ago 2 min read

Beneath the azure waves, a vibrant world unfolds,

Where coral reefs reside, nature's jewels of old.

But hear the coral's lament, a sorrowful plea,

For the ocean's colorful gems are fading rapidly.

Once a kaleidoscope of life, a mesmerizing sight,

Corals adorned the seas, radiant and bright.

Reefs teemed with fish, in a symphony of hues,

A thriving ecosystem, where life would amuse.

But human hands have left their mark upon the deep,

Pollution and destruction, the coral's tears seep.

Acidic waters rise, warming with each passing day,

Coral bleaching ensues, as colors fade away.

In the Great Barrier Reef, a world wonder so vast,

Corals suffer, their vibrant beauty receding fast.

Their polyps, once teaming with life, now pale and worn,

A haunting testament to the damage that's been borne.

Across the Caribbean, once a haven for marine life,

Coral reefs now struggle, in a battle against strife.

Staghorn and Elkhorn, once thriving in their prime,

Their branches now dwindling, a tragic paradigm.

But hope remains, as warriors rise to the call,

To save the coral's jewel, before it crumbles and falls.

Conservation efforts surge, like waves upon the shore,

Restoring damaged reefs, for generations to adore.

In the depths of the Red Sea, where corals still thrive,

Dedicated divers work, keeping their hopes alive.

Nurseries are created, where corals can be reborn,

A testament to human resilience, and the love we've sworn.

In the Pacific's Palau, a haven for marine life,

Protected waters bloom, with colors pure and rife.

A sanctuary for corals, where their brilliance can persist,

A testament to the power of conservation, in nature's bliss.

Let us heed the coral's lament, and take a stand,

To protect their fragile homes, across the ocean's expanse.

For these vibrant jewels, so essential to our Earth,

Are more than mere adornments, they signify life's worth.

Let us reduce pollution, and mend our harmful ways,

To ensure coral's survival, for future, brighter days.

Sustainable practices, in fishing and tourism's wake,

Preserving the coral's home, for Earth's and future's sake.

For in the coral's lament, a call to action rings clear,

To protect and cherish the ocean, to hold it near.

For when the coral reefs perish, a part of us will fade,

And the vibrant colors of life will slowly dissipate.

So let us rise as stewards, with compassion and care,

To save the coral's jewel, a legacy we must share.

For in protecting the ocean's vibrant, colorful gems,

We safeguard the beauty of Earth's precious diadems.

The coral's lament echoes through the sea,

A plea to cherish nature's wonders, for you and me.

Let us answer the call, with love and devotion,

Preserving the ocean's treasures, our shared life's potion.

For in the coral's lament, there lies a crucial test,

To protect the ocean's jewels, and let them truly rest.

With collective efforts, we can turn the tide,

And ensure the coral's vibrant beauty won't subside.
