The Colours of Me

Poem by Holly Amber

By Holly AmberPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I am like the rainbow

Rare and intercut

Beautiful

You can pick apart the colours of me

Yet still find harmony

In the synchronisation of my pigments

I am passionate and free and enlightened

I am pinks and yellows and violets

But

Sometimes I am Crimson

A woman who knows her worth and isn’t afraid to express it

All passion and danger and fury

I pride myself on my inconvenience to society

And my ability to not give a damn

I am head strong and feisty

Determined to bring justice for those in need

I take on the world and force it to its knees

I am a Queen

And

Sometimes I am Ultramarine

Free and vast like the ocean

My possibilities in life are endless

My heart craving adventure

My mind always curious

I travel

I learn

I experience

I expand my worldly view and

Redefine my definition of intelligence

As I may not hold a PHD in mathematics

Yet my knowledge of this world and its wonders is boundless

And my wisdom of life is forever growing

Then

Sometimes I am Viridescent

Like the roots and vines of the forest

I adapt

And remain grounded and strong

Like a thriving ecosystem

I am well connected and flourishing

My mind, body and soul is at peace

I persist in serenity and reflection

I meditate with the sun and the moon and all that connects them

My colours are a spectrum

But each one of them is beautiful

And each one of them is me

Passionate and fearsome

Free and boundless

Enlightened and at peace

This is me

This is my pride
