The Colour Of Fire
Let your fire burn brighter than the stars
I am a dull grey
Like the sky on a rainy day
When I open my eyes
To clouds hanging over me.
I am orange like the pills
That bring back some colour,
Silence my thoughts,
Help me see clearer,
Yet dull my spirit further.
I am dark grey
Like a thunderstorm
Waiting to happen
When I explode with anger
At the undying oppression
Our society seems so keen
To uphold and obey.
I am a blazing red
When I am filled with passion,
Speak my unfiltered truth
And disregard the tension
That comes from living in a society
That can’t handle the truth being spoken,
A book being wide open.
It must be intimidating
When our inner worlds
Are flooded with secrets and lies,
When so few speak their minds;
To meet someone like me
Is like being witness to a wild fire
In the dead of night.
