The following is a poem that goes along with three others and a painting; these are collectively named "The Colors". They were an exercise in positive-emotion-expressing poetry that I created in 2018. This last one should strongly engage the sapphic faculty (lol).
---
Cord drawn velvet drapery,
Coat on the crocheted key;
How many years has it been?
Has anything waited for me?
Have I any prudence
For the sweeping of the trees?
Once a mess of moons ago-
Yes, there must be someone waiting up on me.
-
A caramel sole slowly taps, and
Linen looms over linoleum ground;
Her latticed eyes leer, trying to show
(Gathering the charms she found)
Limbs run ivy up peripheral stairs,
Bringing braided whispers to stained glass;
Dark hair cascades straight to the marble waist
Framing multicolored beads on a white mask
-
With omniscient glances:
"Haven't you any sense at all?"
Haven't you held these fingers
In the center of your clairvoyant palm?
And "Was it such a mystery?"-
Six notes struck on a hallowed guitar,
And telharmonium tones in dialogue play
Confidences written in the belly of the stars
(Does the figure exit or do I wake?)
Reverberations begin to disperse from the hall,
Of a proclamation: The court will have...
The body will have... it all.
