The Colors of my Life

By Francis Groleau

By Francis GroleauPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I have dark brown eyes like so many

but it's through pink lenses that I see

We're judged on the white of our teeth

What is it that makes me unique?

My black box knows every experience I've ever had

Some memories are happy, while others are sad

Because shades of yellow and blue fill my dreams

Both when I'm awake and when I'm asleep

Friends and family paint my life in bright splatters

On an empty canvas, an explosion of colors

I am who I am because of my hopes and dreams

For my aspirations, I will turn the lights green

I now gladly display this vivid hue

I wave all my colors just like a flag

I live my life in a way long overdue

These are the colors that make me who I am

inspirational
