The Color that Made the Rainbow

Created by a fairy

As she turned colors into light

Red from an azalea

Orange off a butterfly

She took green from the trees

A deep blue from the pond

And lastly she found violet

Inside volcanic rock

She brought the colors together

Placed them side by side

And carrying them like ribbons

She streaked across the sky

When she came back down to earth

She noticed something missing

The colors she had hung so high

Still didn’t seem convincing

Discouraged she turned

And walked away

Head hung and spirits low

She began to fly,

Turned to look one more time

But was blinded by the yellow light

Her wings had left behind

And for the first time ever

She thought maybe her color

Was beautiful enough

To shine next to the others

And when she placed it in between

The orange light and the green

She finally saw yellow for what it was

Completely and beautifully unique

As she took a step back

Her heart skipped a beat

Finally she could say that her

Rainbow was complete

inspirational
