The Color of Me

Red

By Morgan ToutantPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Born in a time of hopes and dreams

I arrived at the perfect moment for me

My trip to the Earth was in perfect alignment

I had chosen my parents and picked my assignment

I chose my Country, my City, my plan

I envisioned my friendships, and my lessons and then

I asked the creator to make me unique

To give me these marks on my face that you see

I asked for this blessing that comes in disguise

I begged for the chance for my spirit to rise

In infinite wisdom, the lord set me free

with these marks on my body and face that you see

He promised that only the ones who are real

will join my adventure and help me to feel

that this birthmark is precious, it's special and fine

It's meant to prepare me to do what is right!

So, I honor my red face and all of the years

I have worn this so proudly without any fear

I send hope to others who have suffered this fate

To let them feel comfort and help them relate

For, being this different on the outside

requires nobility, it requires sacrifice.

Not to one's self but to those who would stare

My job is to comfort and make them aware

This mark on my face is not who I am

It is a message from god, and this is his plan

To share in the glory and always be true

and to see in others what they see in you.
