The Color of Bruises

Life Tightly Lived

By Susan T. MusumeciPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

It is not quiet

Noise bounces across the room

I close my eyes and leave

The dark anger inside

Thrashing, twisting, trying to get out

How can I not let it?

Anger rumbles, fear treads

Flashing fast words hit quickly

The heart still hurting

Family plays a part

It holds places left long ago

Family wraps you, warps you, leaves you

My life holds no ripples

Reaching outwards

I leave no trail

In my mind

Wringing hands

Hope slips out

Sometimes darkness stays

Memories vivid, alive

My past, no future

As the stars shine bright

What dreams do they hold hidden

Deeply in the night

fact or fiction
