A clown's disguise, a mask to conceal
The tears and the sorrow, the heart that feels
A painted-on smile, a wig and a nose
A disguise to hide, the pain that it knows
With every laugh, a piece of soul is sold
The spotlight's glare, a lonely place to be
A clown's performance, a disguise for humanity
But in the silence, when the show is done
The clown's true face, is revealed to none
A reflection stares, with eyes that are sore
A heart that's weary, from the weight it bore
The painted smile, a disguise to wear
A clown's brave face, to hide the tears they share.
