The Closed Door

What We Hide to Feel Safe

Speech caught in the chest

with no room to escape,

causing tears to flood the soul.

Suffering behind smiles—

masking pain

with the fear

that expression is just an excuse.

Sore bodies

after sleepless nights

fighting voices of doubt,

hesitating

to speak harmless truths.

Shackled to past experiences,

struggling

just to walk forward

with your head held high.

The rhythm of life disrupted

by buried realities

hiding in the dark corners

of your true self.

Eventually,

you run to the façade—

the version of you

that feels safe to the world—

just to avoid the help

you truly need.

Tears never cried

build an ocean to drown in,

but only just enough

to keep gasping for air

while trying to stay above water.

The fear of being misunderstood

is only a mask—

a cover

for self-insecurity.

But healing starts

the moment you open the door

and find the freedom

to feel without permission.
