Who Knew?

The word love is all I could say.

It felt like only yesterday.

My tiny baby was held close to my heart.

I never want us to be apart.

*

As time went by,

I did cry.

My tiny baby grew and grew.

She earned her wings and flew.

*

Estranged from me,

far away as could be.

I felt broken inside.

Yet I was filled with pride.

*

A woman, a mother too.

She was holding her baby; who knew?

How proud I could be.

Nothing but the love I could see.

*

Now I am a grandma, her a mom.

Her fun had only begun.

The circle of life is a blessing of its own.

From a tiny baby to a beautiful lady full grown.

*

As I see my senior years come quickly by.

I look back and ask myself why?

Live every day the best way you can.

At no time at all did you wish you could go back again.
