One among many,
Steps upon the way,
Generation to next,
Leading the way,
Dark places past,
Golden glow of gathered,
Each flame a kin,
Stronger together,
But each must pass,
Along that road,
Where went the quiet hours?
While life was hope?
Counted in the dripping wax,
Every drop did matter,
What was lasting ere the end,
At the dying of the candle?

i like this. comparing candles to generations in a family is interesting and i never thought of that. cool!!
Beautiful. candles make everything shine brighter.
An astute observation of the flames of the candle being like the life of a person, and the wax a lasting reminder - lessons from previous generations. If we kill the unity between us, we also kill the wisdom that will keep us going.
Candle is a good metaphor for life. A beautiful sad poem, Jamye!
I’m a bit obsessed with candles. I love this!!!
