In a quiet room, where shadows play,
A candle flickered, soft and warm,
Her golden flame a steady glow,
A beacon through the darkest storm.
One evening, as the night drew near,
A tiny firefly took flight,
With wings aglow like emerald sparks,
He danced within the velvet night.
He saw the candle's gentle flame,
And fluttered close with curious glee,
"Hello, bright light, may I stay near?
Your warmth is comforting to me."
The candle smiled, her flame held high,
"Of course, dear friend, come rest awhile,
Though I am bound, fixed to this place,
Your wings can travel mile by mile."
The firefly perched beside her glow,
Together, they lit up the night,
One steady, warm, a constant flame,
The other, fleeting, pure delight.
They shared their stories, hopes, and dreams,
The firefly's tales of open skies,
The candle spoke of rooms she'd warmed,
And all the hearts she had to rise.
As hours passed and dawn drew near,
The firefly knew he'd soon take flight,
But in that moment, side by side,
They basked in friendship’s gentle light.
"For though you flicker, firm and still,"
The firefly said with wings alight,
"You shine as bright as stars above,
And turn the darkness into light."
"And though you wander far and wide,"
The candle whispered, soft and true,
"You bring a spark to every place,
And paint the night with a silver hue."
When morning came, the firefly flew,
But in their hearts, a bond remained,
For in the friendship they had shared,
Both candle and firefly were changed.
In every glow, they knew the truth,
That light, though different, still can blend,
For in the dark, both still and bright,
A candle and a firefly are friends.
