The Calm Before the Storm

Addiction

By Ruth StewartPublished 3 months ago 1 min read

I step into the warm, rippling, water

It encloses my skin like a blanket

Leaning forward, I slip silently

Allowing its soothing

Surface to caress me.

***

My muscles move me easily

The feeling of nature around me

Mentally free, in its gentle

Movement,

Unaware of the imminent

Snap snap. Alligator!

Ugh, this was so relatable! It's always like this. It's like happiness is just an interval between two sorrows. And sometimes, when things are going too well, we know for sure that something bad is lurking nearby, just waiting to happen. Sending you lots of love and hugs ❤️

This is very insightful for me, obviously. I am not happy it feels like that for you. Well done on a well written and stirring, evocative piece, though. Like Dana said, good to see something from you, darling. x

What a twist! This started so mesmerizing, inviting me in and lulling my senses... The perfect set up for the impending doom. A very fitting description of addiction.
