the call
a belated sensory poem

original artwork
chilly is the door handle, then heavy the air, from nighttime coastal squalls;
hotel coffee's papery notes linger - acrid flavor, this hour, tasting sweet;
upon my waking ear, an early bird's wistful, echoing timbre falls;
ultramarine and cerulean, at a crimson borderline, reservedly meet;
salty, deep, and richly promising, the sea's redolence calls.
