The blessing and curse of ONE DAY.
It takes one day, just one for you to wake from sleep and get that spine-wrenching call that your Father has died.
The same one day it requires for the visa application you submitted to be reviewed and granted.
One day which could turn out a blessing or a curse.
It is on one day that you prepare for work and drive in the car, yours, which is fated to crash, and render you paraplegic for life.
Same one day, when your heavily pregnant wife would birth forth that child whose face you only have traced with your hands in the scan; that one day to physically behold the product of the life you’ve planted.
One day which we have no control over, which could be a blessing or a curse.
It is one day, that your sister rushes to your workplace panting heavily and relaying to you that Mama has died; Mama who struggled through her teeth to see you through school, and now that you’ve graduated and gotten a job, she didn’t live to eat from the proceeds of your first salary.
One day, where an old friend who you once showed kindness would remember and extend hands of gratitude and honour to you.
One day, a blessing or a curse.
It is on one of such days, that you would lose the only woman you’ve ever truly loved, through irreconcilable differences; one day which would break your heart, rent your soul and puncture your spirit.
Same one day, where the lottery company would call you and tell you your number hit jackpot, hence a change in life and fortune.
One day, a blessing or a curse.
The day holds so much in its stomach, surprises that could lift your spirit, or break your soul.
Just one day.
