The Black Dove

Mysterious and Gallant

By Melissa DahlPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
NightSky by Melissa R. Dahl

I am as beautiful as the starry night

I am different from most people on sight

I am unique for my gift of creativity

Black is the color of darkness and formality

Therefore I am but an odd, quiet, Black Dove

I care for my family, I treat them with love

I love myself for my artistic talent

I admire myself for being gallant

Black Dove, an independent bird that flies

To no dictatorship it ever complies

Off to freedom far away from the jaws of fear

A safe place to rest its wings is very near

I am quiet and mysterious, yet I love myself

I do make mistakes, yet I forgive myself

Certain sounds and some noises bother me to an extreme

However, music calms my spirit with every theme

Some say that Black is the color of evil and death

And in a pitch-Black winter; I can see my breath
