Life is not meant for us to be unhappy; we were meant to live free.
of the burdens of society
like an eagle with the vision to see
Above the trees
Of a land scape that is serene
Soaring above the noise into the bigger picture.
Instead, we allow ourselves to be swallowed under the pressure of this world’s gravity
With over focused sight of intentionality
Stuck in our own reality
Unable to see
Past the void that consumes our Destiny.
We are brute yet we scurry
We hide and then we worry
Afraid of the opinions chained to the black and white
Of what’s wrong and what’s right
Holding on to tight
To spread our wings and fly
To feel the air
In our feathered hair
To whistle out our own authentic cry.
We stop ourselves from chasing what feels right
Forever into the night
To the core of our soul
That is linked to the blood that we know
Beats the love through our hearts
Forever torn apart
From the light that is ours to shine.
We hold on to the things that hurt us the most
Grasping on to the hope
That if we change who we are
Being accepted is by far
The settlement that we deserve.
When the reality is that along the way
Our pieces fall off where conditioning is to stay
That made us who we are instead of letting it be
Allowing to glide free
Letting it weigh us down
Because heavy who wears the crown
That wasn’t meant to fit our preserve.
When being enough
Should be screamed from our lungs
And if you can’t see it the problem is yours
And there is the door
Because I am not allowing negativities presence
To affect my being anymore.
We are meant to learn and grow
With wisdom to know
The value of our own soul
And what’s not meant to be to let go
Because I am not here
To keep feeding your fear
When your blind to all you hold dear
Because its not my place to fix it
Which in turn is not your place
To continue to displace
my worth because you’re so unhappy.
So, while I take the negativity
That you keep placing on me
And set it completely free
Because this is how it’s not supposed to be
And am over those in my life who make me feel shitty.
We are meant to raise our vibe
And not give one fuck to fly
While we attract our tribe
And the people who celebrate who we are
No matter how far
Whether by plane or by car
Because they understand what it’s like to be broken
And choose to love us so much
And understand our enough
To raise one another up
And not treat each other like a prized token.
Because women or man
Who is willing to stand
For the change that is needed
For the hearts that are bleeding
Finds happiness in growth by creating the peace in our grievance.
And who we reach for behind
In the needs of time
Still isn’t an advantage
For you to use as a bandage
If you are so unwilling to do for yourself the same
Still holding on to shame
While placing the blame
Because you can’t let go of the things you can’t change.
Because that is vain
And vain brings only pain
And you’ll have no one else to blame
Because you coward down in shame
For not standing up for you.
Especially when you can set yourself free
To be all your meant to be
By listening to your soul
That will guide you where to go
Because you are not them and they are not you
And they don’t have a right to tell you what’s wrong
If the wrong in your soul feels true.
So, if they feel that it’s wrong
Then allow them to keep moving along
While you enjoy your song
That is the beat of your rhythm during your rhyme
That is your own tune to create
Because this is your story
to stand in your glory
So, there is no need for them to worry
How God has chosen your fate.
So, allow them to judge
And carry that grudge
And don’t ever wear
The words they use to tare
Down your soul bare
Because it’s not the mirror you have to face
From their chosen disgrace
For not accepting the person you want to be
This is your joy
That will not be toyed
Or reduced to a box
They want to lock
Because for themselves they can’t be happy.
Decide to choose love
Decide to choose life
Let positivity be how you choose to fight
While holding your value
In a world that devalues
To live and let live out of spite.
For I am not you and you are not me
But that absolutely doesn’t mean
We have the right to tell each other’s wrongs
Just because our tune doesn’t match to one another’s song.
It should be with our heart that we feel
and the steel of our eyes that we see
that you are you and I am me
and with different wings
we glide the sea
and accept the ways we choose to breath.
With that being said
Until the day that I am dead
Ill scream it out loud
That I am proud
That the dance to your own life
Brings a light to the night
And because that is what matters
The hate we can shatter
From accepting the fact
Whether its white or its black
What keeps your fire lit
Is what’s meant to fit
So don’t force the shoe
That doesn’t feel right for you
And fuck what they say if they can’t accept it.
Because if we can’t match to each other’s rhyme
In this small life’s window of time
Please just know
Judgment is not what I’ll show
because I accept who you are
As your own rising star
Even if I must stand over here
Using my voice, I will not fear
In saying that yes, we are different.
Choosing not to have blame
Nor will I shame
You love and accepting your very own flame
Because that’s what is right
And how we should fight
Allowing our individuality
To be set free
Apart from you and me
But choose to share love just the same.
I just want you to know
Before I must go
by being the you that you are meant to be
In that you will see
Within lies your purpose and power
And in that very hour
Those chains that have hold
Will break open bold
And when your finally set free
Above the landscapes serene
Above all the noise
That was stealing your joy
Is where you’ll understand the bigger picture.
