I’m looking at the handlebars

that’s all that’s left

of the bicycle outside Bobar

on Boulevard Henri IV

I’m pretty sure the whole thing

was there last night

trying to cross the road

near Notre Dame in

Ho Chi Minh City

is almost impossible

you can’t see the cars

for the bicycles

ring ring

but it’s like Russian roulette

not a single chain

not a single lock

on the bicycles outside

Tokyo Station or

Kyoto Station

honour, respect

they will all still be there

when the working day ends

my bike had no brakes

it was my brother’s actually

wouldn’t get back

on one though

can’t stand the lycra
