The bereavement

Accompanying someone who is bereaved

By Emby LatPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Don't ask a bereaved person to be strong

when he cannot be.

Don't advise him not to cry,

because tears are part of grief.

Don't compare his loss to another,

because each grief is unique and personal.

Don't push him to hold back his emotions,

because that would be adding to their burden.

Accompanying him in his grief does not mean

giving him encouragement to take away his affliction.

Silence often means touching

with respect the soul of the one who is suffering.
