In the quiet of the mind

Roars the beast

It roams till it finds

The peace its feast

It feeds on the calm

Till there's nothing but worry

The sweat on our palms

It drinks in a hurry

The creature leaves behind only doubt

And makes you forget all about reason

Questions as to what that was about

Flavor the food with a fine season

It waits in the dark corners

For it's prey to make its return

In your mind this is torture

But the beast never learns

When the peace settles in

And you're feeling like yourself

The creature smiles a grin

And places you back on the shelf

You're looking down

As the beast feeds it's hunger

The familiar sound

You've known since you were younger

This beasts cage is only your mind

And it has never tasted defeat

However, the peace that you find

Is always devoured on repeat
