The Baker's Dozen
The boy's eyes lit up with gratitude's gleam
In a quaint little village where cobblestones gleamed, lived a baker named Barnaby with flour-dusted dreams. He woke with the sunrise, his oven aflame, crafting loaves golden with whispers of his name.
One day, a young boy, with eyes wide and round, Stood by the window, a lost puppy he'd found. "Please, sir," he whimpered, "a penny for bread. My tummy is empty, my puppy unfed."
Barnaby smiled, his heart filled with light. "Come in, little friend; there's a feast just in sight." He sliced him a loaf with raisins and spice, and a warm puppy biscuit—oh, so very nice.
The boy's eyes lit up with gratitude's gleam. "Thank you, kind baker; you're a wonderful dream!" Barnaby chuckled. "Remember this well. Kindness is a recipe with magic to tell."
The boy skipped away, his puppy in tow, and Barnaby's heart, filled with warmth, did overflow. A baker's dozen is not just a treat; it's sharing and kindness on life's winding street.
