Who has angered the gods?
The tides ebb further and further inland,
As Neptune begins his conquest of land.
Fierce waves strike the shore,
Levelling sand dunes that were raised to protect
And dragging brush and weeds into the sea’s domain.
Who has angered the gods?
Dark storm clouds bristling with lightening
Shatter the sky’s tranquility,
Mirroring Jupiter’s grey brows
Furrowing into a deep frown across his face.
He casts down shafts of lightning without hesitation.
Who has angered the gods?
Pluto watches as the Fates cut short the lives of men.
With vicious glee he gazes down at the flood of souls
Pouring through Hell’s gates.
His helpers judge the souls of the dead
As pestilence and disasters ravage the living.
