I’m watching old movies trying to recapture my youth
Chewing on popcorn, when I fractured my tooth
I poured me a soda, generously mixed with vermouth
Being young is wasted on the old
So, I called the dentist, trying to get my tooth repaired
I threw on a hat just to cover my hair
I wondered how the time seemed to vanish in thin air
It’s not easy to be graciously old
The music played loudly, as I patiently listened
The receptionist smiled, her front teeth seemed to glisten
I found myself staring, when she said, can I have your attention
She screamed at me as if I was old
So, I climbed in the chair and threw my mouth wide open
The dr arrived and filled my gums with something dope and
As he began drilling I found myself hoping
Things would be easier now that I’m old

Aging is a part of life...as someone who worked with elders before a lot of times you have to repeat yourself louder. Great poem.
If only it did get easier. Getting old sucks lol
Getting old is tough...and I love this line..."She screamed at me as if I was old"...reflects how society tends to see them. But it's not that bad! We've got poetry! A cool write, Kelli!
Wishful thinking when at the dentists. Getting old isn't that bad. Good job.
