I swear I was born under a dark star, a curse, a bad storm or something ugly from afar. It's like it jumped out at me and said, "there you are!"

It's shadow crept beside me, year by year. A constant companion through joy and tears, many times it magnified all my fears.

My parents died and left me all alone when I was just a child not yet fully grown. Their absence was a chasm wide and cold but did the dark star claim them, or was I it's true hold?"

I've lived through heartache and loss much more than three times a charm. People often hurt me and put me in harm so when they'd approached me I'd sound the alarm.

I fell in love with people who lied, only to vanish away, they did hide, wrecking my dignity and my pride until I began hating myself inside.

I built up new armor, hard steel through and through, but since I am a chicken heart I left a crack in case I met the one who was true.

I am growing stronger now, a new year coming upon us I will stand tall and in myself I will trust. I will mark this day as a beginning. A new astrology of self-love and strength in a world where I am winning.

I rose from shadows of a hard long and painful night, forged in heartache's fire emerging stronger, my spirit's deepest desire to be and do what is right. Forever victorious, my soul now takes flight.
