Thankful Thoughts on 2020

Thankful thoughts, that’s challenging!

Let me think, oh here’s some things:

2020. Let's begin.

I'm oh so thankful for sleeping in!

After ages in this rat race

I’m oh so thankful for this new pace.

Of course I’m thankful for my daughter

My son too and their cute father.

I’m thankful for our family

Even through a Zoom meeting!

Thankful for my life girlfriends

We love each other through thick and thin.

I’m thankful for the NBA

And the bubble so those guys could play!

Homeschool Mom now?

But I forgot how-

I’m so thankful for our teachers!

You go thru it, glad you do it

I’ll applaud you from the bleachers!

Jokes aside you are a gift

Didn’t see it till this shift.

I’m so thankful I enjoy my kids

I watch them play and smile

I must admit, with all this stress

I hadn’t done that in a while.

I’m even thankful for my kids’ devices

Oh, I’ll keep paying those high prices!

To have some time when I get pissed

I know I’m not alone in this.

Thankful for those YouTube families inspiring us to have more fun

Make that money, in your backyard, playing in the sun.

I’m thankful for my lo-fi beats

As I cook and clean, fold towels and sheets.

Thankful when I watch TV

A new movie? Okay let’s see.

Thank you home delivery!

Whatever I need was brought to me.

Thank you Amazon, Fed Ex, UPS

You really got us through this mess!

Thank you to our music artists

They got us Rockin’ out!

Doing TikTok with our kiddos and that’s what it’s about.

Thankful for these times we’ve had

There’s always good too not just bad

Thankful to servants of our communities

You often see what we don’t see

Serving those left far behind

They are the first thing on your mind.

I’m so thankful for clear skies

After the California fires

That goes to say I’m also thankful for our fire fighters

Combat fires thirst un-quenching

Watch them fight, we count our blessings

I’m so thankful for deep breathing

Hope-filled prayers and still Believing

I’m so thankful that I get to write

It’s how I focus on and share my light

Thankful for our loved ones passed

Man, I wish that life would last.

I’m so thankful for the ones we love

Those that passed on, one last hug.

These are things we’ve always had

Just more appreciated when things get bad

Through the clouds the sun keeps shining

I’m just so thankful for the silver lining.

Thankful that we have the time

To reflect on the past and reset our mind

Finding it within ourselves

To see the good and nothing else

Staying Thankful through this election

Hmm I have no words for this section-

I'm still thankful for America!

Thankful that we have a voice

I know it’s hard, it’s still a fight

But here, for now, we have a choice.

Thankful that we get to ponder

On all the things that make us stronger

Like love and hope and goodness too

These are things we all can do

I’m thankful that we’re all the same

Thankful that we’re all to blame

I’m Thankful that we’re passionate

Too bad it’s for the opposites

Thankful for the simple things

Think on these and Joy it brings

Yes I’m digging but just start small

Just be thankful through it all!

I’m know there’s some things I left out

Trying to think cause there’s no doubt

You have a list that’s endless too

If you shift your perspective view.
