A poem I never agreed to write

As I lay here,

I find myself unclear.

Uncertain of what is being woven.

Do you think I should not post this in Poets?

I don’t know.

But what I do know is…

I never agreed to these conditions.

I can say I have a mission—

But maybe I’m just another soldier

at war with himself.

Or can I become more

than what I am,

By the cards we’re dealt?

Didn’t Siddhartha once ask…

Do we create this world?

Can we shape something new

From the hand we’re given?

I don’t like to rhyme all the time,

But I love to create something

That’s only mine.

Something I can hold—

Just for a moment.

And then?

Share it with the voiceless.
