Teenage Tragedy

True Event

By Vivian HeartPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

Early summer days, our time to play

Feel the warm air wash our cares away

Youth and vigor on our side

Our hearts are soaring with graduation pride

Behind the wheel, my friend at my side

We cruise in our car, the ocean in sight

I wish I hadn’t pressed the pedal so hard

I am sorry mom and dad for breaking your heart

For I felt in control, control I never had

Now twisted in metal, the car tore in half

I didn’t do as you told me, I didn’t listen to you

I didn’t take it slowly and I was texting too

We were just getting ready for college

We were chanting our college song

Now, our future is gone

sad poetry
