Technicolor Hearts
An original poem by Greta Cleaver
Colors ...
they are all around us.
The brightest of all
found within.
Technicolor,
Patchwork hearts
Where faith and love do blend in.
The of brightest days
They are
marked...
With my favorite cerulean.
The very first
day of spring
Showcases the brightest shades of
green.
The memories...
Of a first kiss.
Long ago, but never forgot
Color my mind with pink petals
That shift from pale to a distinct shade of hot
Purple violets dance
Around my Nanny’s yard.
Boy do I love to watch them sway
A memory that stings and
also warms my heart.
Red, white, and blue
Fireworks
on a hot July night...
Mosquitos and sparklers
In equal numbers
And a young child’s eyes, all alight.
Indigo
... sprinkled with silver
Stars on a warm and clear night
My cousin teaching me constellations...
A skill I’d cherish my whole life.
Peach.
The color of roses...
And my favorite pie.
Reminds me of fonder memories
Of family together after a long long while.
Ivory
The color of cotton
And the comfort of a nice warm bed
Where I can drift
... peacefully to sleep
The moment
My pillow hits my head.
Brown
The color of the Earth
And the chocolate of my children’s eyes
Of which
Both inspire me
With love that I cannot deny.
Black to some it is mourning
To me it’s a complex state
It’s the beautiful depth of melanin
And my favorite color dress on a first
(Hot) date
White is a color
Or absence
Either way, I love
...but do not wear.
No matter how
Hard I try...
I will stain it without a clue
How it got there
Gold
The color of money
The sun
Its shine and our souls...
Inside us all
Beneath the shell
And the muck
We all are a perfect shade of gold.
Grey
The color of rain clouds
Another
Joy that I sure do love
Dancing in puddles
... just for fun
Or the love shared between
two turtle doves.
Colors
paint our memories
They give
... meaning to this life
For some a form of priceless art
To others a sense of tension and
Never ending strife
I wish we could all focus
On the fact that all colors are good
With even
ANY single one gone
Life just wouldn’t BE as it should
We are ALL
Colors on a palette
Breathing life into this piece
called
Life.
Together
we
Can Make. A. Change.
Building a future
full of compassion
And compromise.
If we look in each other’s eyes
Deep
To see the soul found within ....
All the colors we hold
Inside ourselves
Reflect back to us
... you see...
We are twins.
Our differences
They do.... unite us.
We all play a part
in this cosmic dance...
I just hope to see
More love grow
See past the colors
And give each other
An honest second glance.
Get out your needle
And your thread...
Let’s stitch together
our technicolor hearts.
Then maybe the world
Will finally understand
We are One.
Inside, we are all light and dark.
