There's a tiny flash of light when
the welled-up tears breach their
lash-lined reservoir
my own heat spills down
my cheeks
my nose
my chin
drip onto my shirt
cooling off to cold
in an emotive waterfall
emotions cause tears
to fall
pain
sadness
sometimes joy
sometimes faith
society hands us a tissue right away
trying to stem the flow of us
our soul bleeding out in rivulets
the evidence too much
too human
too vulnerable
too telling
sometimes inconvenient
sometimes embarrassing
and so we still cry but
in private
in secret
in the dark
where no-one sees
the tracks of our tears
staining our skin
but He who created us
He sees
our souls
our emotions
our eyes
our tears
our hearts
our minds
in another realm unseen
He is the Harvester
catching every tear
bottling each one
to water the Garden
of our soul
and watch it
grow.
Amen.
