Tea with the Devil

an advert for my newly published book on Amazon thinly veiled as a rhyming ‘poem’

By Kayleigh Fraser ✨Published 11 months ago 1 min read

my latest publishing delight,

is this book that took 4 years to write,

obviously not writing it every day!

I needed months of breaks between working days,

and man, oh man I’m glad to be done,

for a lot of that work was not so fun!

on the seventh or eighth editing read

I was sick of this tale being on repeat,

(especially as it was all done on my phone! no laptop in hell for me to work from!)

but there is one long section that had me crying with laughter

although at the time it was an absolute disaster…

one that I thought would totally break me

but given what I’ve lived through since? It’s now become comedy

and then there’s the many heated sex scenes…

which to relive felt like orgasmic dreams,

ironically those were the hardest parts to word!

describing things I can’t even TALK about - seemed absurd 🫣

but somehow, I found a way

to share with you those passion filled days,

fleeting moments of sex disguised as love,

with a man I held on a pedestal above,

but now it’s time for me to close the book,

I won’t ever return for another look,

it’s a chapter of my life now fully complete,

one that I hope will sell, in order to help me eat!!!

———————

You can support me immensely by buying, sharing, reading, talking about and reviewing my book!

I honestly can’t imagine anyone not finding this a fascinating story to read. And given that it’s all true?! Just makes it even more wild.

Thank You 🙏🏻

Ps. The line about “closing the book” is not metaphorically referring to any person. I refer to the tangled mess of the past in general ☺️

Oh my goodness, congrats!! That's a huge accomplishment! ( and it sounds like a juicy read! ) <3 And this poem was so good, and it got a few chuckles out of me as it was very relatable. Long projects truly feel like a marathon! Huge congratulations to you!!!

Congratulations on publishing your book. I written most of my poetry book on my phone too, and created covers on it too; all while under the covers in my bed.

Congrats! It had to been hard, all from your phone

Your poem honestly captures the journey of writing and completing a book. The blend of humour, frustration, and triumph makes it a delightful and relatable read.

You should be proud of yourself, for many reasons! You broke down barriers-- accomplished huge goals -- and in closing this door, it opens others. Your potential is unlimited! I'd buy your book but I'm currently so broke, I can't even pay attention. But I'll keep in mind for the future. Love this poem!!! ⚡💙⚡
