It is only a simple outline of a tribal heart to pay homage to countless others who have made that ritualistic passage through the agony of loss that shatters the soul.
It is only ink from a limited palette of scarlet and black placed intentionally over my heart to sync with every beat.
It is only blood and ash to symbolize love is stronger than death; my blood and my beloved’s ashes combined with the permanency of ink to represent a bond that will always be.
It is only a reminder to never take love for granted and exactly how deafening silence can be.
It is only a tattoo.
