Take Me to the Skies / Undertow / Wings

an anthology

[Take Me to the Skies]

Take me to the skies

In the dark of the early morn

That the moon might set me aglow

And the clouds may tickle my nose.

Let us dance on top of streetlights

To the sound of distant sirens.

We'll bounce from town to town

And prance until the sun comes round.

When we gently alight and dash off to some hidden place

We hide until the daylight wanes

And do it all again.

--

[Undertow]

Floating in a tepid sea

Heavy clouds begin to weep.

Sluggish waves wash over me

And raindrops ease me into sleep.

As my heart and breathing slow

I sink into the undertow.

--

[Wings]

God gave us eyes

To look to the skies

But he gave the birds

Wings.
