What doesn’t harden, heals

It seems I bruise

everything I touch.

Even the air around me

feels colder

once I speak.

Still,

there’s a softness in me

they haven’t killed.

And maybe

messing up

means I’m still alive.

Maybe being hurt

means I still care.

Maybe it’s the ones

whose tongue always acts as a sword

that have simply forgotten

how to hold anything gently.

And maybe

I haven’t.
