Surviving The Holiday Season

Loosely Inspired And Submitted To The Holiday Reflections In Verse Challenge

By Marc OBrienPublished about a year ago 1 min read

An early threatening chill

Occupies the border hill

Aroma bread growing

Now showing

Delicious taste

Building its case

Once yeast

Starts invading, air from the east

Sending message, exclaiming peace

Protecting us like the North Star

Crosses in masses stand guard

As a frosty mist sprinkles down

Heaven sent; earth bound

Temperatures start their drop

Nature’s clock reminding, time to shop

Season now is celebrating giving

A gratitude thought for living

Innocently, wanting personal success

Honestly, passing moral honor test

Prepared and ready to confront bitter cold

Acting cool and bold

Super powers, defeating attitudes, dismal and dark

By singing, what the angels hark

Good tiding to all

Feeling grateful, browsing inside the heated enclosed mall

Open all night

Featuring festive light

Enhancing the postcard wintry sight

Due to someone flying an experimental kite

Having spirited independent might

Let us declare our fundamental right

Proclaiming, ‘We are free tonight’
