Surrender

Surrendering to Addiction

My one true love

A little round pill

Chasing the high

No matter the cost

Little did I know

I was lost

Putting my obsession before

Friends, family, myself

Jobs destroyed

Spirit misguided

A family's mistrust

I knew something

Was wrong

Walked into the rooms

Searching for better

Defeated and broken

I heard over and over

This insidious disease

Can be arrested

I must surrender

Surrender is not a weakness

It's a sigh of relief

My white flag

A fresh start

Just for today

I can be clean

We can do it together

My name is Oliver

And I am an addict
