Summer blooms
faux tangerine
promises of autumn
in boxes
You blistered me
with your heat
said it was enough
I should just...
feel the love
since it was 98 degrees.
Peel away the pith of me
I am still bittersweet
been trying to romance
the stones of men
since I was thirteen
No wonder I fell for
your granite.
If you were nicotine
maybe I could snuff you out.
Why did I settle
for the foundation
of a house.
You said I was enough
but I was floor board
creaking under your weight
just a clementine sky
hell bent on believing
in the travertine
