he tells her of the sunshine

as she lays on his chest

of how the rays spill over the sky

and run across the horizon

free

and how at the end of the day

his skin peels

and breathing burns.

she tells him of the moon

of how her days are dark

but the stars smile

sometimes

and how it is cold

because there is no one to hold her

and together

they sit by the sea

sand in their toes

waiting for

sunrise and sunset

but all there is

is darkness

and night and day

hold hands.
