A long time ago in India land,

Sunday was just another day to stand,

But on June 10th in eighteen ninety,

Sunday became a holiday with such glee.

People rejoiced and let out a cheer,

No more work, no more fear,

A day to relax and enjoy life,

No need to worry about the workday strife.

Families gathered and had some fun,

Played games and laughed under the sun,

On this special day, everyone was free,

From work and all their duties, you see.

Sunday became a special thing,

A day to rest, to pray, to sing,

Thanks to the decision made back then,

Sunday in India became a holiday when.
