Sun Soaked Lessons

An ode to trying the unfamiliar

I learned something new that summer

Something I never thought of doing on this, or any perfect day

The waves beat the shore not too gently

And I rode them home..

My friend’s partner showed me how

I could not believe that nearly 5O years had passed and this is something I had not tried

Mind you the seas where I came from were icy and uninviting, so perhaps it’s not that strange

But I loved what I was doing and kept riding the curling foam

The sun blared above the sea, yet all refreshed.

Suddenly the wind rose .. I fell into rocks

On the beach children were in a storm of sand

How quickly things can change. Even on a perfect summers day.

Like life really

but even so

Try something new ...don’t listen to “no”

You’re alive .... in spirit stay that way

inspirational
