Summer’s Loyalty

The nights are not endless

By Elsa Michaela | @surfthoughtPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

The first of the painted leaves

Has fallen

First of the Northerlies

Autumn morning

(Autumn morning)

But by noon

The sun will have burnt all doubt away

And the evening will bloom

How long can he hold his place?

Hiding his shyness behind fire-lit eyes

And his playful smile

Beguiling as waves

Time and again, lost as the day

But anyway,

Purposeful, large as a cat

Fluffed up and sure

Winter settles

Cloudless nights

Will turn soft things to metal (Turn soft things to metal)

And all will be darker and slow

Bare branches sleeping.

Playing in the shadows

Looking up through long lashes

Vulnerable

Behind the window pane

Singing songs to while the time,

swears of Summers loyalty

The nights are not endless

(The nights are not endless)

Winter smiles

About the Creator

Elsa Michaela | @surfthought

When you hear a song

One that stops you in your tracks

That seems spoken from your own mind

Do you listen and listen again?

Follow its streams until a tide,

Inside you

Rushes to fill in the small hollow parts

…Yeah, me too
