Summer Fun

(a summer's day sonnet)

By K. GreyPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

S.P.F. spray tropical aroma

Aloof locals lift brows as the tide exhales

Pretzeled appendages, sun-induced coma

Icy lemonade melts as dreams set sail

And a jet plane writes clouds, out loud in script

S-U-M-M-E-R .. F-U-N

Gulls spar midair bursting a bag of chips

Arouse dazed in your gaze where the ocean bends

Awake and dive into it saltier than sweat

Straight horizon hair tangled in seaweed

I’ll take it dry as the sand and soaking wet

I have all that I want, more than I need

The ferry fades as the sun dips into blue

Cherry waves serenade like I fit in with you
