Summer Camp Sonnet Vol. 2

cabin fever

By Emma AndersonPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

You had me at hello, nimble fingers.

Sufjan Stevens split between two headphones.

You had a salad, I had a burger.

Ivory laughter, tickling the tritones.

Baby grand in a cabin, what a sight!

You spoke of your piano like a friend.

Sound waves dancing in the iPhone blue light,

I couldn't compete, music was your end.

Cottonwood drifting and our last goodbye,

Orange, red sherbet melting over Lake Blue.

You put my note in your laptop bag, why?

Rip it up when you are not in my view.

I felt for you what I have not felt since,

Summer camp heart break, no words needed mince.
